The American University Equestrian Team is a competitive club sport dedicated to fostering strong horsemanship, teamwork, and personal growth. We compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) against regional colleges and universities in both hunt seat equitation on the flat and over fences. Our team welcomes riders of all levels—from beginners to experienced competitors and provides inclusive, supportive training that balances skill development with academic commitments. As a fully student-run organization, we take pride in our leadership, community, and commitment to representing AU with excellence.
What Fundraising Can Do for Our Team –Fundraising is critical to ensuring our team can continue to train, compete, and safely access high-quality coaching and horses. Donations help support:
- Show fees and transportation costs for both riders and equipment.
- Lesson subsidies, making participation more financially accessible for students from all backgrounds.
- Proper safety gear and tack, including saddles, stirrups, and team-shared equipment.
- Horse care fees, which allow us to maintain consistent training schedules.
- Competition apparel, ensuring we can represent AU professionally and uniformly at shows.
These contributions directly impact our ability to compete effectively, expand team accessibility, and maintain a safe and supportive environment for all athletes.

The equestrian sport can be costly, and donations help remove financial barriers so our athletes can focus on growth, confidence, and representing American University with pride. Thank you for believing in our program and helping us continue doing what we love.”
