The American University Cross-Country/Track and Field Club offers both a casual and competitive space for runners of all talent levels to participate in running-related activities and events. As a member of the National Intercollegiate Running Club Association (NIRCA), we compete every season in a variety of different meets all over the Mid-Atlantic. For the past several years, we have had the privilege to be able to participate in NIRCA's Mid-Atlantic Regional and National Cross-Country Meets, as well as their National Track Meet in the Spring of 2025. The running club also hosts the annual AU Capital Relays track meet at AU's own Greenberg Track, hosting club teams from all over the Mid-Atlantic and Capital Area. AU Club XCTF prides itself on its inclusivity and togetherness, as well as giving non-varsity athletes the opportunity to grow and demonstrate their tremendous talent.
What the Donations can do for Us: The American University Running Club is incredibly grateful for the generosity of all Club Sports Donors. For AU Club XCTF, increased donations mean that we are able to increase the transportation budget for the semester and travel to more meets. By far the most fun experience that a runner can have on the AU Running Club is attending a cross-country or track and field meet; it is because of these donations that our club is able to travel to and participate in these amazing, team-building experiences. At the same time, donations help the club afford new uniforms and equipment; for the track season this year, the club is making a significant effort to foster the talent of our incoming sprinters. This means that there has been an increase in equipment costs for new starting blocks, track spikes, and injury prevention tools such as rollers. Our distance runners have also been able to make use of this equipment, as well as water and nutrients provided by the club for their races. Being able to make this effort for our runners is imperative to ensuring that we are affording all of our members the ability to foster their talent within the club. None of this would be feasible if it were not for the generosity of our donors; the American University Running Club is appreciative to all donors and thanks them for their kindness toward our club and other club sports.
Quote from President Jimmy Vendetti:
"To all club sports donors, thank you from the bottom of my heart! Any donation, no matter how small, goes a very long way toward being able to afford equipment and transportation to and from competitions. We are so incredibly lucky to have a community that supports us with such generosity and kindness. The operation of our club, being able to train the way we train, being able to compete against other schools in small meets or national competitions, would be significantly more difficult if it were not for our wonderful donors. Thank you, and know that you are appreciated."
